CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) - A corrections officer in the St. Joseph County Jail could find himself spending some time behind bars after he pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges.  39-year-old Steven Morris was caught stealing the painkiller Tramadol from the clinic in the jail in early January. The plea-bargain means that he won’t have to face trial on two felony charges and risk much stiffer sentences.  He was originally charged with two counts of larceny in a building.

The St Joseph County prosecutor plans to ask that he be barred from ever working in law enforcement again at sentencing, which is set for April 8^th. 

Morris had been on administrative leave without pay since his arrest.
