VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO) -- A Covert Township man who allegedly got very drunk, and crashed head on into a car, killing a woman and two toddlers in Van Buren County last fall, has cut a deal with prosecutors.
32-year old David Glen Johnson pled guilty to second degree murder and driving drunk causing death and will serve a minimum of 19-1/2 years to life. Prosecutor Mike Bedford says most of the other charges will be dropped but those were the most serious he faced. He says Johnson has been very remorseful. 24-year-old Brittney King and her nieces, 2-year-old Kandice and 4-year-old Cassadi Berryhill were killed when Johnson pulled out around a slower moving vehicle to pass it and slammed head on into the car King was driving last fall. 24-year-old Justin Berryhill was injured. Johnson will be sentenced on April 19th.
