OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - A west Michigan teen's Russian roulette death is being ruled a homicide. Ottawa County sheriff's deputies say the shooting occurred late last Wednesday while the victim and an 18-year-old man were "horsing around" with a .22-caliber handgun. Sixteen-year-old Brandon Kuiper was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in critical condition and he died two days later.
Richard Usher Jr. is jailed on a $350,000 bond on manslaughter and felony firearms charges. Investigators think alcohol and marijuana played a role in the shooting.
