DETROIT (WKZO) -- Kevin Orr, Detroit's newly appointed emergency manager will begin work on the city's financial crisis March 25th. Orr, a graduate of the University of Michigan law school, is a specialist in corporate restructuring and helped Chrysler though its bankruptcy in 2009.
Under a new law which goes into effect March 28th, Orr's powers as emergency manager will include the ability to eliminate the salaries of Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and members of the city council and sell city assets with the permission of the governor and the state treasurer.
