BANGOR, MI (WKZO) -- Extra counselors will be on hand this morning at Bangor Schools after a crash left a Gobles teen hospitalized with multiple injuries. Deputies say his car rolled, hit a tree and he was ejected though the windshield. Van Buren County Deputies say that 17-year-old Shawn Steinman was headed back to Gobles with a passenger from class at the Vo-tech center in Lawrence at an excessive rate of speed when he lost control of the 1998 Audi Quattro, went off 24th street and crashed.
Steinman, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, was transported by ambulance to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo where he is listed in serious condition. The passenger, 17-year-old Jamie Summerville was buckled in, and was able to call for help. He sought treatment for cuts and bruises on his own.
