A comeback win for Michigan State but the Big Ten tournament moves on without Michigan and in the MAC, the same can be said for Western Michigan.
Last night in Chicago, Michigan State was down by a dozen points midway through the second half but the Spartans rallied to beat Iowa 59-56. M-S-U will now play Ohio State this afternoon in the semifinals.
In the other bracket, it’s Wisconsin vs. Indiana. Friday afternoon, Michigan’s defense was exposed by Wisconsin with the Wolverines losing to the Badgers 68-to-59. Michigan will now wait for selection Sunday tomorrow to find out their destination for the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Last night, Adreian Payne scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in Michigan State’s victory over Iowa. He got help from Keith Appling and Gary Harris, who had 13 points apiece.
Turning to the Mid-American Conference tournament semi-finals last night in Cleveland, Western Michigan lost to the Ohio Bobcats 74-to-63. The Broncos trailed by 17 at the half and fought back to trim the deficit to 2 points before the rally fizzled. Ohio will face Akron in the MAC finals.
