Two South-Central Michigan Schools were locked down yesterday morning and others from Barry to Allegan to Kalamazoo County were put on alert after police received a call from a tipster that a Delton man was high on drugs and threatening to shoot up an elementary school. They immediately advised the two nearest schools in Barry County to go into lockdown mode and confronted the 50-year-old man.
They determined that the threat may have been overstated, but they did find a meth lab in the ex-con’s home and weapons. He was arrested for violating parole and will likely face charges for manufacturing meth and being a felon in possession of guns. Police are still trying to identify the tipster. Child Protective Services removed a 3-year old child from the home. The suspect is expected to be formally charged this weekend.
