LANSING, MI (WTVB) - They say it pays to advertise and the folks who run the Pure Michigan Campaign say they have studies that prove it.
This week they are launching their biggest national summer campaign to date, spending 13-million dollars on national cable TV network buys to promote the state as a tourism attraction.
Five specific destinations...Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Mackinac Island, the Henry Ford Museum, and Traverse City have all chipped in $500,000 dollars to have custom ads promoting their locations run in the rotation.
This year for the first time, Pure Michigan has also put 6 short videos, each one promoting a different set of attractions, on YouTube.
The films feature golfing, fishing, wineries, lighthouses, dunes and biking.
