North Carolina A&T and Saint Mary's are advancing after the first night of the NCAA Tournament. The 16th-seeded Aggies of North Carolina A&T picked up a 73-72 win over Liberty to move on to the next round. Their reward is a date with the top-overall seed Louisville in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday.
The 11th-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels took out Middle Tennessee 67-54 and the win sends them on to play Thursday against sixth seeded Memphis at the Palace of Auburn Hills. That’s also where Michigan State and Michigan have second round games tomorrow. Michigan second year point guard Trey Burke has been named Sports Illustrated National Player of the Year.
The First Four continues tonight in Dayton with two more games. Sixteen seeds clash in the opener with LIU-Brooklyn taking on James Madison. The winner moves on to play number-one seeded Indiana. In the nightcap, 13th seeds Boise State and La Salle clash for the right to advance.
The winner will meet fourth-seeded Kansas State in the next round. And Western Michigan tonight opens play in the College Basketball Invitational with a first round home game against North Dakota State
