PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Here is some municipal Irony for you. Portage had to delay opening the city’s municipal ice rink because it took so long for winter arrive back in December. Now they are delaying the spring hydrant flushing, rather than turn the entire town into one big ice rink.
Imagine what would happen if they flushed hundreds of thousands of gallons of water out into city streets in 20-degree temperatures.
The flushing had been scheduled to begin last night. The plan now is to start flushing next Monday night, hoping by then the spring will have sprung.
