LANSING (WKZO) -- Legislation to make emergency dredging a reality this spring is headed to Governor Snyder's desk for his signature. A three-bill package received final approval Thursday in the state House to reduce permit fees, make it easier to ease restrictions on the cost of dredging certain harbors, and allocates 21-million dollars for the work. Record-low water levels on Lakes Michigan and Huron this winter have prompted lawmakers to take action to ensure shipping can continue on the Great Lakes.
