KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners will hold a special meeting Tuesday to get an update from staff on the status of the clean-up at the Allied Paper dump Site off Alcott.
The city and local environmentalists have been battling with the EPA for years over the final plan to deal with 1.5 million yards of PCB contaminated soil currently contained in a 220 acre site off Alcott on the city’s near south side. There is only so much money available to do the project because of the bankruptcy of the parent firm, Millennium Holdings.
The EPA promised a feasibility study would be ready early this year.
Commissioners will get an update Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
