KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) -- It looks like Kalamazoo’s full court press to get the EPA to do more than just cap and walk away from PCB contaminated Soil at the Allied Paper dumpsite may already be having an impact.
First the EPA upgraded their proposed clean-up solution to one that provided a more secure cap. Now they have postponed publication of their proposed plan, according to a city memo.
Tonight, City Commissioners will consider a 200-thousand dollar allocation from the waste water fund and the general fund to underwrite legal expenses, and provide funding for the local grassroots campaign, and the lobbying effort that still lies ahead.
They will also consider hiring the Dykema law firm to represent their legal interests as the battle the EPA over the issue.
