KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- John Aguilar has been found guilty on all counts in the robbery and baseball bat murder of Kalamazoo Antiques Dealer Robert Medema last August.
The Kalamazoo Circuit Court Jury found the 52-year-old guilty of first degree and felony murder, which means mandatory life without parole. They also found him guilty of armed robbery and first degree home invasion.
The guilty verdict came despite the admission by co-conspirator Antonio Livingston that he had actually committed the killing. But the Jury discounted his testimony after the Prosecution demonstrated that Livingston had told over two dozen different versions of what took place at Medema’s home on Oakland drive that night.
Aguilar’s family says they plan to appeal.
