BUTLER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Girard Township man and two Indiana residents were injured yesterday afternoon when their pickup truck crashed into a tree and burst into flames in Branch County’s Butler Township. Michigan State Police say it happened on County Line Road near Dean Road.  24-year old Matthew Singleton was a passenger in the pickup driven by 46-year old Sandra Singleton of Knox, Indiana. The woman told troopers the engine started smoking and it filled the truck cab with smoke and she lost sight of the road.

Another passenger in the vehicle was identified as 22-year old Kayla Rodriguez, also from Knox. All three were able to exit the pickup before it was destroyed by the fire. They were taken to Oaklawn hospital in Marshall for treatment with minor injuries to the driver. There no word on the conditions of the other two. The accident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m.
