KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) -- Today is the day that “Girls on the Run” all 22-hundred of them take to the streets of Kalamazoo to run a 5-k thru the south side of the downtown. The event is so big that it takes Waldo Stadium at WMU to contain it. That’s where the run begins and ends.
This year for a fee, community participants will be allowed to run with them. Onsite registration begins at 4 p.m., a short program begins at 5:55 and The run begins at 6:30. Expect road closures and detours downtown.
It is the culmination of a program designed to develop self-esteem and self-discipline in young girls.
