DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Retiring U.S. Senator Carl Levin is endorsing Congressman Gary Peters for his seat in the Senate.The Detroit Democrat said in an email to supporters he's "eagerlylooking forward to supporting Gary and helping him in his campaign." Levin has served more than 34 years in the U.S. Senate and decided earlier this year to retire. Senator Debbie Stabenow has alsoendorsed Peters as a candidate, and he is expected to run uncontested for in the Democratic primary for the nomination in the race.
Peters currently represents suburban Detroit and has also served in the state legislature and as the Michigan Lottery Commissioner.
