BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Former Michigan Congressman Mark Schauer has officially announced that he will run for governor next year.
The Battle Creek Democrat previously served in the Michigan legislature before his time serving in the U.S. House. He defeated incumbent Republican Congressman Tim Walberg in 2008, only to be unseated by Walberg in the 2010 election.
Schauer has most recently worked for environmental group the Blue Green Alliance. Governor Rick Snyder is expected to run for re-election as a Republican, but he has yet to make an official announcement.
