Local business executive and tennis enthusiast dies after long illness

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- We have been notified by the folks at Kalamazoo College that David Markin has died. Markin was a long time supporter of amateur tennis, serving in any number of high profile jobs with the U.S.T.A.

including serving as the organization’s president in the late 80’s, helping to build Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York during that time.

Markin, was the President and owner of Checker Motors and a long time Trustee and benefactor at Kalamazoo College.

In recent years he lived in Palm Beach Florida. He died after a month long illness at age 82.
