DETROIT (WKZO) -- A painting worth millions of dollars has been discovered at Oakland University. The painting, titled "Infant St. John the Baptist in the Wilderness," was found in a dark corner of Meadowbrook Hall by Doctor Salvador Salort-Pons, a Detroit Institute of Arts curator.
According to Salort-Pons, he was walking through Meadowbrook Hall, on his way to give a lecture, when he noticed the masterpiece. The piece is the work of Spanish master Bartolome Esteban Murillo and was commissioned in 1670.
Oakland University and the DIA have agreed to show the piece in one of the museum's premiere galleries and it's scheduled to be unveiled in early February.
