MUSKEGON (WKZO) -- Two Muskegon sisters, Diane Hart and Vickie Brill are expected to be formally charged today with solicitation to commit murder for allegedly plotting to have Hart’s husband killed.
State Police were reportedly tipped off Tuesday by the intended victim that the two were shopping around for a hit man, and so investigators set up a sting and assigned an undercover officer to play that role.
Prosecutor D.J. Hilson says Hart had just filed for divorce but apparently didn’t want to wait to end the marriage.
He says he it’s the second time some one has tried it this year to hire a hit man to kill their husband.
. Julie Merfeild was stung in the parking lot across the street from the spot where this week’s sting took place.
She is serving time. Hilson says he is surprised that the two new suspects hadn’t heard about it.
The women apparently offered jewelry as a down payment, offering $5,000 for the murder.
