KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The owners of the Alamo Drafthouse officially held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new home in downtown Kalamazoo and it was an event to remember.
What makes this different is you can order up a burger or a steak and a beer from a local microbrewery to go along with your flick.
For the special occasion they had actor Michael Madsen, pop the cork on a bottle of champagne using a samurai sword like the one he wielded in the “Kill Bill” films.
Co-Founder Tim League says it’s a different kind of theatre experience, but then Kalamazoo is a different kind of town.
It’s the first Alamo Drafthouse in the Great Lakes region and folks from all over Michigan have been coming to see it.
They have been showing movies to packed houses already for a few days at the site of the Rave Theatre complex downtown.
