UNDATED (WKZO) -- First comes the stormy weather, then the utility crews and then the scam artists, unscrupulous con artists who show up at your door offering low prices or immediate help, and then take your money and run.
The BBB’s Melanie Dequesnel says homeowners don’t want to wait. Especially if they fear bad weather is coming and they have roof damage.
She says you need to contact your insurance company, do your research, get more than one bid, ask to see their insurance certificate and get what you want done down on paper.
No respectable firm would demand payment before the job is done. That may be the tip-off.
