DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Tigers made some not so splashy news the day after their blockbuster Prince Fielder trade. Detroit announced Thursday that they are bringing back reliever Phil Coke. The 31-year-old left-hander has agreed to terms on a one-year contract reportedly worth $1.9 million dollars.
Coke went 0-and-5 with a 5.40 ERA in 49 games with the Tigers last season, his fourth year in Detroit. He was sent down to Triple-A Toledo for a short time last year and was sidelined during the American League Division Series against Oakland because of tendinitis.
