GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) -- The National Weather Service is out with its annual forecast for the winter ahead and it lists the Great Lakes States as “EC”.
That means they think there is an 'equal chance' it could be colder or warmer or snowier or less snowy
In other words they are clueless.
Grand Rapids Climatologist Bill Marino has his own theory. He calls it his "East Asia Snow Anomaly".
Whenever that part of the world is covered in snow in October, our winters are cold and he says this year they had the third largest amount of snow in their history.
He says it should be a good winter for ski resorts, which are usually in lake effect areas, and good for drivers east of U.S.131.
