DETROIT, MI (WTVB) -The Detroit Red Wings snapped their seven game skid last night with a 4-3 decision over the Carolina Hurricanes at Joe Louis Arena. The victory also ended Detroit’s 8 game home winless streak. Gustav Nyquist scored a pair of goals for the Red Wings. Nyquist was recalled earlier in the day from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Detroit’s other goals came from Darren Helm and Niklas Kronwall while net-minder Jonas Gustavsson stopped 24 shots for the Red Wings. Tomorrow night, Detroit hosts the Ottawa Senators.
In minor league hockey, in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings are out of town this weekend with 3 games at Elmira while in college hockey, it’s a home-n-home series for Western Michigan and Michigan State with tonight’s action in East Lansing before the Broncos host the Spartans tomorrow night in Kalamazoo at Lawson Ice Arena.
