BROOKLYN, NY (WTVB) - The top-ranked Michigan State Spartans separated from Virginia Tech at the end of the first half last night and MSU went on to beat the Hokies 96-77 to reach the final of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The 5-and-0 Spartans advanced to play Oklahoma for the tournament title tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Virginia Tech kept it close until a 15-3 run put Michigan State ahead 46-33 at the half. Adreian Payne scored a career high 29 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Spartans to the victory.

Also last night, 14th-ranked Michigan rallied to defeat Florida State 82-to-80 in overtime at San Juan to move on to the finals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
