UNDATED  (WKZO)  -- A website called www.24 7Wallst.com says Michigan is the 16th worst run state in the U.S.

That means that according to their numbers,  34 other states are better managed.

The website reviewed hundreds of data sets comparing everything from debt to graduation rates, from poverty to foreclosure to productivity to crime rates to new job production and how well it manages its resources.

The report says the state’s fortunes are looking up, but they say the well-being of its residents could be better.

According to the website, North Dakota was ‘the best run state’ and California was the worst.

The survey conceeds that some states have a natural advantage over others because of rich and abundant natural resources.

They say that's why North Dakota, Texas and Alaska are near the top.   But they also say that some states that have resources but have squandered them, are near the bottom.  They say every state government has to deal with the hand its dealt.
