WEST MICHIGAN (WKZO) -- Icy roads are being blamed for two fatal accidents in the area late yesterday afternoon and too many slide-offs and fender benders to count as Michigan drivers rushed to relearn their winter driving skills, and some of them failed the pop quiz Monday afternoon.
One man was killed when his vehicle went out of control on M-37 south of Hastings and rolled over,.A second died on an icy slope on D Avenue just west of U.S. 131 in Kalamaoo County’s Alamo Township.
Witnesses say it appears that the victim slid out of control on the ice, sliding driver’s side first into oncoming traffic. His car was t-boned and he was killed.
Investigators say in both cases it appears they were driving too fast for conditions.
