KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Its thanksgiving week and people who live in poverty are going to find it that much tougher this year to afford a big thanksgiving meal.

Ann Lipsey at Loaves and Fishes, Kalamazoo's food pantry distribution system,  says people who live with food insecurity are feeling the loss from a recent reduction in food stamp funding.

She says her organization doesn’t lay out anything special for the holiday, but she says thank goodness there are those that do, Like Theos and Stacy’s and some area churches.

Lipsey says farm bill negotiations in Washington have not been going well and her fear is that food assistance recipients could be losing even more...she says her organization is not equipped to pick up the slack.
