DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Tigers and the A’s play in Detroit today with their best of 5 American League Division Series tied at a game apiece. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:07 pm this afternoon at Comerica Park with Anibal Sanchez on the mound for the Tigers against Oakland’s Jarrod Parker. Detroit hopes to wake up its offense, which hasn’t scored since putting 3 runs on the board in their Game One victory Friday at Oakland. Tiger manager Jim Leyland said yesterday that Jhonny Peralta will be in the lineup today in leftfield for his first home game since returning at the end of the regular season following his 50 game suspension as part of baseball’s anti-doping investigation. Game 4 tomorrow in Detroit has a 5:07 p.m. starting time and if a Game 5 is needed, it will be Thursday night at Oakland.
In the other ALDS, the Tampa Bay Rays will look to hold off elimination as they host the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox hold a 2-0 series lead with first pitch set for 6:07 p.m. this evening. The Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers are a step closer to meeting one another in the National League Championship Series. The Pirates notched a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at home to take a 2-1 lead on Sunday. Pittsburgh can close it out this afternoon at home. The Dodgers rolled to a 13-6 win over the Atlanta Braves in Los Angeles to grab a 2-1 lead in their NLDS matchup. L.A. also has a chance to advance with a win at home in Game Four tonight.
