CHARLOTTE, NC (WTVB) - Three-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart has gone under the knife once again. Stewart had a third surgery on his broken leg Monday in what his team characterized as a "proactive measure." The procedure was to close a wound on his right shin stemming from the injury he suffered on August 5th at Southern Iowa Speedway. The latest surgery is not expected to affect his scheduled return for the start of the 2014 season. This season’s Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship continues Saturday night with Chase race number five and the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
