DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Lions center Dominic Raiola has apologized to the director of the University of Wisconsin marching band and has made a large donation to the band's fund for making inappropriate remarks before Sunday's game in Green Bay. Raiola allegedly used obscenities and made comments about sexuality to several members of the band. In a statement, he said his interaction with the marching band was inappropriate and he apologized to those offended, his teammates and the Lions' organization.
Team president Tom Lewand also issued a statement and said the team is pleased Raoila took ownership of his actions and admitted they were wrong and unacceptable. Lewand said because of his response, there will be no additional disciplinary action by the team.
Meanwhile, Detroit star receiver Calvin Johnson was seen yesterday walking around in the Lion’s practice facility locker room but he declined to comment about the knee injury that sidelined him from playing in the team’s loss at Green Bay. There’s been no update yet on Johnson’s status for the Lion’s game Sunday at Cleveland.
