LANSING (WKZO) -- Andy Dillon is stepping down as State Treasurer, claiming that his private life and his divorce have become a distraction.
He wants to protect his family from the fallout of being a public figure with personal issues.
It was not an amicable divorce, and problems with FEC filings for his last campaign were an issue for a while but have since been cleared up.
It’s been a tough year for the former democratic speaker of the house, who ran for Governor, became treasurer and had his private issues.
He has told Governor Snyder that he will stay on until November first to help with any transition.
The Governor had nothing but nice things to say about the departing Dillon.
