LANSING (WKZO) -- The State of Michigan is going to give Xerox a taste of their own medicine.
State officials will trim 15% of the payment to the Electronic Bank Transfer firm that failed to perform for the state’s poor on Saturday, cutting off access to Bridge and WIC cards for hours. Apparently it’s permitted in their contract.
Xerox says the glitch occurred while they were testing a back up system and it cut off service to 17 states.
Kalamazoo County Commissioner Michael Seals says he was at Meijer when the system went down Saturday. He says it was heart breaking sight to see families forced to leave without any food because their bridge card wasn’t working.
In Louisiana, the glitch caused the opposite to happen, eliminating the limits on spending with the EBT cards and some went on spending sprees.
