STURGIS, MI (WTVB) - A suspect who had been under investigation in Sturgis for the shooting death two weeks ago of accountant David Locey will now face murder charges. St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough Thursday signed a two count complaint against 36-year old Andy Brown for first degree premeditated murder and felony firearm. McDonough said embezzlement charges that had previously been brought against Brown have been dismissed because they decided that much more investigation needs to be done before that case proceeds to trial.
Brown is accused of shooting the 70-year old Locey October Second at his accounting firm office north of Sturgis on M-66. McDonough praised the work that the St. Joseph County Major Crime Task Force has done on the case so far and believes the right decision was made to bring the murder charge. He said that if any citizen has further information on the homicide, they should contact the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
No further information will be released right now but McDonough said he expects further details to come following a preliminary examination.
