BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) - There is a new mission at the Air National Guard Base in Battle Creek, piloting drones. It’s a mission that is fraught with controversy. Amnesty International says the U.S. may be guilty of war crimes because the U.N. says drone strikes have killed 400 civilians in Pakistan alone. Nureen Shah with Amnesty says these are innocents who pose no threat to the U.S. White House spokesman Jay Carney says that’s not their policy. But he also says the U.S. is carefully reviewing the new reports on civilian casualties.
They have not yet started flying missions in Battle Creek with the continued installation of equipment and the training of staff.
