Miranda Lambert Allows for Plenty of Creative Free Time in the Recording Studio

Miranda Lambert is easily one of country music's more quirky artists with left-of-center hits like "Mama's Broken Heart" and her latest single, "All Kinds of Kinds." That kind of creativity can't be forced in the studio, so Miranda and her producer, Frank Liddell , allow for plenty of time to explore different sounds and songs during the recording process.

"A lot of the way he produces is just kind of sitting back and seeing what happens before having too much of a plan," Miranda says of Frank's approach in the studio, "I think that's why it sounds so organic and so different is because we sort of go into it with this open mind, both of us."

Miranda and Frank are in the studio now working on the follow-up to her 2011 album, Four the Record . As always, they're letting the music guide the way.

Looking back on her working relationship with Frank, Miranda says, "It just happened so naturally the way that we worked together in the studio. You know, I bring the songs, and he finds some songs and we let it start with that. We let it start with the song."

Miranda currently has two songs in the top 20 with "All Kinds of Kinds" and her duet with Keith Urban , "We Were Us." Miranda's next album is expected to come out sometime in 2014.
