COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The city of Coldwater is seeing more signs of economic development this fall. City Manager Jeff Budd’s report in the City Council’s packet for the Council meeting coming up Monday night tells of the city receiving site plans for added investments in the community. According to Budd, Belle Tire will be locating their business in the out lot in front of Meijer directly across from the Meijer gas station along U-S 12 on the city’s east side.
Also, Middleton’s Moulding will be adding a 16,000 square foot addition to their existing facility and Haylett Auto & RV will be adding a 1,200 square foot addition to their service bay. Meanwhile, the C.J. Carlisle building on West Chicago Street is being renovated for a new restaurant.
Earlier this month, Mastronardi Greenhouse announced it’s proceeding with Phase II of their greenhouse project. And on the northwest corner of East Chicago and Michigan Avenue, another new restaurant is getting set to open soon with Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in the process of hiring workers for the eatery that will occupy the former Sauk Trail Trading Post building.
The Belle Tire, Middleton’s and Carlisle building require site plan approval at the next session of the Coldwater City Planning Commission. Meanwhile, the final auction of the city-owned Standard Oil Building downtown at 92 West Chicago Street will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Council Chambers. Bidding for the building will start at $51,000. The pending sale of the building is on the Council’s agenda for Monday night.
