KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A 28-year-old Redford Township man is in custody after he led police on a high speed chase across the eastern half of Kalamazoo County Friday afternoon.
Several westbound motorists on I-94 called in a report of a man driving erratically in an Audi, headed westbound at 100-mph, and passing cars on the shoulder.
A little after 4p.m. a State Police Trooper began pursuit when the suspect blew past him in Comstock Township, but the driver refused to pull over.
As they approached the Lovers Lane overpass, the suspect merged back into traffic, crossing two lanes and clipped a car with a woman and two small children in it, lost control and went into the ditch.
No one was injured.
That’s where he was taken into custody. Police suspect he was high on drugs. It is his third driving under the influence charge.
