SPRINGFIELD (WKZO) --Who would call in a bomb threat to a residential and rehab facility for seniors? That’s what police in Springfield are trying to figure out after they had to evacuate and search Evergreen Manor yesterday.
The female caller warned them that a bomb was about to go off at about 1 p.m. and staff had to scramble to evacuate the 75 seniors who live in the facility on Evergreen Road.
They were taken to another senior complex for several hours until a State Police bomb sniffing K-9 went through the facility, and it was thoroughly searched.
Under new state terrorism provisions, such threats can mean some serious penalties for the person responsible.
