COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Community Health Center of Branch County had a difficult month financially in September as the hospital plans ahead for 2014. The CHC Board of Trustees reviewed the numbers last night at their regular October meeting.
Total admissions and observations at the Health Center last month were down and are off 150 year to date. Emergency room visits are down over 400 from the same time last year and total surgeries are down 400 as well. Board finance committee chairman Lindy Cox said on a positive note, behavioral health admissions continue to go up, births at up and average length of stay is just below last year’s rate.
The net loss for last month of $220,000 puts CHC in the red for the first three quarters by $54,000. Projections at the start of this year had optimistically suggested a profit by the end of September of two and a half million dollars.
