A Battle Creek Police Officer has been put on paid administrative leave after he was arrested for drunk driving in Portage early Saturday morning.
Veteran Officer Kevin Stansberry was off-duty when was stopped on South Westnedge Avenue at just before 1a.m. for speeding and flunked a breathalyzer test.
Portage Public Safety officers say he was he was cooperative, but blew a point-15, which is nearly twice the legal limit.
As we have seen from previous examples, drunken driving arrests are not a cause for immediate dismissal from the Battle Creek force.
Officer Stansberry will be subject to an internal review and discipline.
