KANSAS CITY, MO (WTVB) - The Tigers sputtered in Kansas City over the weekend after beating the Royals 16-to-2 with 26 hits on Friday with Detroit dropping its second straight to KC yesterday 5-to-2 in the rubber game of the 3-game series. Doug Fister gave up all the runs in six-and-a-third innings for the loss. Jose Iglesias belted a two-run shot for the Tigers, who still have a five and a half game lead in the American League Central over the second place Indians, who lost to the Mets.
Tonight, Detroit opens a 3-game series in Chicago against the White Sox, who won 4-to-2 yesterday at Baltimore. The Cubs fell 3-to-1 to the Brewers at Wrigley Field.
