PARCHMENT (WKZO) -- Fire investigators are looking for what may have triggered a fire that destroyed the oldest portion of the vacant Crown Vantage Paper Mill in Parchment.
The old mill was destined for demolition to make way for new development. It took fire crews from a number of departments nearly 3 hours to bring the fire under control early Saturday.
They were hampered because they were afraid of draining the city’s water tower and so water had to be trucked in.
While it was a big piece of the small community’s history, it’s been over a decade since anyone worked at the facility.
