CHARLOTTE, NC (WTVB) - NAPA Auto Parts has decided to end its sponsorship agreement with Michael Waltrip Racing in the aftermath of the teams actions at Richmond International Raceway two weeks ago. NAPA is the main sponsor of the No. 56 car driven by Martin Truex Jr., who was removed from the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship after NASCAR determined the MWR team tried to manipulate the race results at Richmond on September 7th. NAPA's sponsorship deal will end after the current season.
The second race in the Chase for the Cup takes place this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Live coverage of the Sylvania 300 on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 begins at one o’clock Sunday afternoon. Matt Kenseth grabbed the checkered flag at last week's Chase-opening race at Chicagoland and leads Kyle Busch atop the standings by eight points.
