The WMU School of Music is kicking off a celebration of its 100th Anniversary with Concerts this weekend.
They plan a number of performances including a musical event that will recognize the school’s All-Steinway designation.
They own 118 of the world-renowned pianos. They also plan a two-day conference on the intersection of music, brain science and medicine.
Centennial events run through late next month.
The School of Music was started to educate future teachers how to teach music back when Western Normal School was predominantly a teachers college.
The Centennial Gala, featuring the Johnnie Rogers Band is scheduled for this Friday evening at the Dalton Center.
