DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The DetroitTigers magic number to clinch their third straight American League Central crown remains at two with six games to play after their 6-3 loss to the White Sox yesterday at Comerica Park. The defeat dashed any hope for Detroit to take the Central title at home with the rest of their schedule on the road beginning with a 3-game series tonight at Minnesota. Anibal Sanchez gave up four runs in five innings for the loss yesterday. Alex Avila was 3-for-3 with a run scored and Prince Field hit a solo home run for Detroit, which is five games up on the second place Indians.
Miguel Cabrera wasn’t in the Tiger’s lineup yesterday with another day off because of his strained groin.
