BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Calhoun County Police agencies are looking for an older man who may be a child predator, and may have been involved in two attempted abductions in the last week.
The description of the suspect has been similar in both cases. The description of the vehicle in the two cases is different.
The first incident occurred in Piper Park in Battle Creek last Sunday when the suspect actually grabbed a young child and was forced to let go and run for it when the child’s baby sitter threatened him with a baseball bat.
He fled in a white van. A composite sketch of that suspect has been released.
The latest incident occurred as a 9-year-old was on the way to Wattles Park Elementary in Emmett Township on Friday morning. The suspect, described as an older man with long grey and white hair asked the child to get into his dark colored pick-up truck.
They can’t be entirely sure it’s the same man, but its suspicious.
Anyone with a suspect in mind is asked to call Battle Creek or Emmett Township police, or Silent Observer.
