ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) - President Obama came to Michigan Wednesday to campaign for the minimum wage hike that is about to get a vote in Congress. President Obama is proposing that the Minimum be raised from $7.25 to to $10.10 per hour by 2016.

The President told a packed audience at the University of Michigan that the minimum is no longer the wage paid to teens just starting out. He says many are trying to support families on what they make. Obama asked the students, some of whom waited overnight to get tickets, to get organized and let their congressman know how they feel about the issue.

The U.S. Senate is set to vote on raising the minimum wage next week.
